Friday Favorite Flea Finds: September 12, 2025
Hidden behind a bookcase in a dusty warehouse, I came upon the rare-to-me 21″ Royal Haeger antelope, turning a somewhat dreary hunt into a $10 treasure.
This fun find didn't come from an actual flea market, but that would have been its next stop, according to the seller. He had recently purchased the warehouse; this was only his second trip to view the chaos. And chaos it was. This dusty warehouse was packed with tchotchkes, baubles, broken dishes, and endless clear glass, which I studiously avoid when on the hunt. But to my surprise, I stumbled on a treasure I never expected: a 21-inch Royal Haeger antelope. I had nearly given up on the cluttered space when I spotted a corner that actually held some treasures. There, hidden behind a bookcase and covered in layers of dust, was this sleek ceramic beauty. I’d seen smaller versions before, but never one of the big ones—and I knew instantly it was coming home with me.
The price tag read $50, a remnant from the warehouse’s previous owners, but luck was on my side. The seller was completely overwhelmed by his pitiful piles of plastic and pottery, and he let me have it for just $10. I snatched it up so quickly that the momentum nearly pitched me backward onto my rear. Sometimes, the best finds aren’t where you expect them, and this towering Royal Haeger antelope turned an afternoon of sifting through castoffs into one of my favorite flea market scores.
