Storage Gamble Turns to Gold

A $5,000 abandoned storage container revealed a trove of collectible streetwear, including Supreme skate decks, Murakami and KAWS toys, and sought-after Air Jordans.

What started as a $5,000 gamble turned into a jackpot when a YouTuber purchased an abandoned storage container once owned by a wealthy collector and discovered that it was packed with collectibles, valuable designer goods, and rare sneakers.

Harrison Nevel, known for documenting storage finds on YouTube, paid $5,373 for the packed PODS container after spotting a few promising clues in the auction listing. Visible items such as Supreme skate decks, collectible artwork, and Bearbrick designer toys suggested the original owner may have had expensive tastes.

Even so, buying the container sight unseen was a major risk.

A container packed with collectibles

When Nevel arrived at the warehouse to unload the container, he discovered it was filled floor to ceiling with boxes and designer packaging. He had only a short window to empty the unit or lose a $350 deposit, adding pressure to what was already quite the high-stakes gamble.

When he began sorting through the contents, the discoveries piled up quickly.

Among the items Nevel found were:

  • Supreme skate decks and streetwear collectibles
  • Bearbrick designer art toys
  • Takashi Murakami and KAWS plush collectibles
  • Designer rugs, including a Virgil off-white rug valued at around $2,500
  • High-end bottles of champagne and whiskey
  • Vintage vinyl records
  • Designer furniture and artwork

One box alone contained dozens of collectible plush figures by Murakami and KAWS, which he immediately realized could equal or exceed the cost of the entire container.

Sneaker culture jackpot

One of the biggest surprises came in the form of a massive sneaker collection that looked like a snapshot of peak streetwear culture.

The container included coveted pairs such as:

  • Off-White Nike Jordans
  • Chicago Air Jordan 1s
  • Travis Scott Air Jordan 4s
  • Yeezys
  • Balenciaga and Gucci sneakers
  • Common Projects luxury footwear

The moment Nevel described as finding “literal gold” came when he uncovered a pair of gold-colored Jordans valued at roughly $400 among the collection.

Value keeps climbing

By the end of the initial inventory, the team estimated the contents had already reached more than $38,000 in value, and many of the boxes had not yet been opened. Interested buyers can browse Nevel's online store, where many of these treasures are now up for sale.

What began as a speculative buy based on a few visible clues turned into a real-life treasure hunt—proof that sometimes abandoned storage units really do hold hidden riches.
